Sky Born Ancestor
2024
Acrylic on animal hide and red cedar frame
16" dia.
"This design I wanted to have beginnings and endings. Wild roses are used as medicine to wash and break ties with spirit and material forms, the roses here represent the endings. The ancestor design above the eagles, the highest flying birds, is representing the beginnings as sky born ancestor’s came down and shaped our territories and built relationships with the different nations within the territories, such as those from the waters, the land, the sky, and beyond."
This piece was created for an exhibition in the Museum of Archology and Anthropology in Cambridge, England, part of a group exhibtion called "Fault Lines" from 2024-2025.
