Hand Spun sheep wool, Russian blue trade beads
26" H x 51" W
"The inspiration for this weaving came from visiting a weaving in the British Museum Collection, it brought me to tears thinking about how the makers of the weaving were living in such a different world than we are living in now. The makers of that weaving were deeply connected to language, culture, ceremony. They were connected to their territory, the seasons, the foods and medicines. I am inspired by the beautiful belongings that these ancestors hands created. They are reminders for us to continue to learn, be strong, and do our best. The design on this weaving echoes the design and colours of the weaving in the British Museum, that was collected between 246 and 199 years before I was born."
This piece was displayed in the Museum of Archeology and Anthropology in Cambridge, England, part of a group exhibition called "Fault Lines"
